Drove Hwy 2 across Washington to Coeur D'Alene, Idaho, then down 95 to cut across Oregon on Hwy 26 ending up in Unity to experience the eclipse in totality. Beautiful drive, car camped in great rest stops other than one night at a camp ground in Coeur D'Alene. In Unity, Oregon I car camped at a BLM close to the town. It was a perfect place for the eclipse. The afternoon and evening before it clouded up a bit, but cleared at night...with the most brilliant stars that I have seen since being in the middle of the Pacific in 1995. So, after gorgeous sunset and sunrise, the sky was perfectly clear for the eclipse. I did not have the equipment to get good eclipse photos...had to focus elsewhere until totality, then with a limited lens and hand holding I managed to get one fair photo of it. All in all a great 7 days!
